The Denim Guide

As fall draws near, it's time we all start to pull out one of our most known and worn fashion staples: jeans. But with so many to choose from now, it can seem overwhelming to decide which jeans to wear. Should I go for skinny jeans or flare? Dark wash or light? Shredded or faded? Well, worry no more, because I have the full denim guide for you!

Which trend should YOU wear? While we often find ourselves poring over stacks of fashion mags to find the newest trends and cutest pair, we often forget the simplest of answers: it depends on your body type. Although the detailing on the back pocket of that pair of jeans might be to-die-for, if those jeans don't look good on you, it's time for a different pair! But don't worry- there are tons more jeans out there and I guarantee you'll find a pair 20 times better! So let's get started!

If you're curvy...
Try straight, dark wash jeans! The straight leg will streamline your entire leg, making you look thinner than you already are! And the dark jeans will add a super-sleek balance.

If you're petite...
Try a light wash jean! By picking a pair with a lighter color, it'll give you instant height! Hint: make sure your jeans never bunch at the ankles, because that will have the opposite effect!

If you're tall...
Try a high-waisted pair! The high-waisted jeans will make your legs look even longer than they are. Now, the focus will be 100% on your model-esque legs!

If you have a small butt...
Try a light-wash jean with lots of back pocket details! The light wash will enhance the natural curve of your butt and the pocket details give extra depth!

If you have a full butt...
Try a darker jean! The dark wash jean will balance your lower frame. Don't forget to grab a pair that contours perfectly to you!

And stay posted for part two of the denim guide, because we've got the scoop on all your favorite trends!

What do YOU think? Post your comments below or send me an email! I'd love to hear from you!

The Fashion Diary: The Crossbody Bag

So is it just me, or are crossbody bags fantastic? They are incredibly trendy, but classic at the same time. Plus, there's a huge variety to choose from! My fave? The small, leather crossbody bag with a flap. I love the ones available from Coach! They're absolutely adorable! What's great about the crossbody bag? You can wear it with almost anything! But here are some ideas:

High-waisted shorts and a white blouse. Your adorable bag will pop against the simple white blouse (which already looks chic with the high-waisted shorts!) if it's got lots of color to it. If it's in a brown or neutral color, it'll add a sleek sophistication.

A day dress. If you're heading to the beach or just going casual for the day, a simple sun dress gives you a feminine flair without much effort. Instead of the usual beach tote, opt for a crossbody bag instead! Although, I don't recommend leathers or neutral colors in this case! Try one that's super fun with lots of colors. If you want a dress that's slightly dressier than a sun dress and still looks great with a crossbody bag, I recommend Anthropologie! You won't be sorry!

You can also try this trend for going to a party or a special occasion. Just make sure it's a little more fancy ;)

Okay, readers! I want to hear your thoughts! Are crossbody bags a must-have or do they just not make the cut? What do you like to wear with a crossbody bag? What's your fave trend right now? Comment or send me an email!

'Till next time...

Fall Forward

Alright, readers, I'm back! After a long summer at the beach and a great new tan to go with it, it's time we all get back to our everyday lives.

I'm sure we all can agree that fall clothes are the best: the rich colors, the amazing textiles, that crisp feel. (And hey, if it's not your fave shopping season, comment below with which is and why, I'd love to hear from you! :) )

So what do I absolutely love this fall season? LACE! Lace is SO popular right now and it's obvious why! Lace gives us that old, vintage feel, that, when played up right, can be modern and chic. Try adding a pop of color with your lace frock. Hot pink, fuschia, red, teal, golden yellow, whatever fits your mood! You can wear a lace shirt with bright pants- another current trend!- or if you're not feeling quite so bold, just stick with a bold accessory, like a bag or shoes! If this still doesn't appeal to you, don't worry. There are plenty of ways to modernize lace! Why not try a new silhouette? However you want to wear it, make sure to try the lace trend this season!

Then there's the animal print, specifically, leopard. Leopard print can make anyone look sexy (and feel sexy!) , but only if it's worn the right way! Although leopard can be worn in so many fashions, I recommend sticking to something small, like shoes. You want it to pop, so decking out in full-on leopard print actually takes away from the trend, and from you!

One of my personal faves: brown leather (faux leather works well, too!). Brown leather looks amazing in two specific ways: one, the riding boot; two, the mini skirt (but not too mini!). These pieces are absolutely fantastic, a total must-have for everybody! How do you wear them? Try a blue button-down top, leather mini, and leopard heels- it's instant sophistication, plus it subtly shows off your bikini-worthy figure from summer ;) And the riding boots? Dark wash skinny jeans and that same blue button-down- see, it saves you $$$ too!

So what do you think? Comment below! I can't wait to hear from you! Enjoy the rest of your amazing summers! I know I will ;)

    Someone to Remember

Hey, readers! Sorry it's been a while, but things have been pretty hectic lately... Anyway, back to the blog.

It's probably no surprise that one of my favorite actresses is Audrey Hepburn. We all loved her Breakfast at Tiffany's and her numerous other films, but it's also impossible not to recognize her for her impeccable style. Audrey was a style icon of the 1950s and 1960s. I just LOVE her subtle elegance! She popularized the little black dress, trench coats, turtlenecks, and ballet flats, which are all still in style! Of course, we must also give credit to her stylist (and good friend) Hubert de Givenchy.

It's a true feat to be recognized as a style icon 50-some years later, but Audrey shows us it's not impossible. We can all look to her for inspiration.

    XOXO,
    S
